A heartbeat sustains throughout this suite: a thematic core to a ruminant progression of percussive, ambient, and noisily harmonic passages begging to be interpreted by the listener. Rock-rooted instrumentation meshes with electronic washes, sonar, and distorted wails as the heartbeat builds to a coronary apotheosis. Humanism emanates.

If you’re the sort of person who defines a soundtrack as being storytelling without words, then I guess it would only be appropriate to call this E.P. a soundtrack. There’s definitely a journey taking place and a story being told to some extent. And it’s probably the closest I’ve ever come to musically capturing what it’s often like to live with intrusive thoughts and that constant background noise of the overactive mind. The soundtrack to an imperfect silence.
